My band, The Left Lingo, has a new site up and running with some new music and old demos. We just left the studio last week, working on our newest EP, “The Life Robotic”, and I can’t wait to get that inside your ear holes.

Boy do I not really love how this video sounds.

It reminds me of the feeling that these kind of old games used to provide you with.  A feeling of solitude and intimacy with the game.  There is a certain amount of unbridled nostalgia for these technically limited experiences.  The games themselves were so handicapped by there times that you could see how they were made.  There were no streaming levels or hiding load times behind CG animation, you saw all of the parts of the game, for good or bad.  But if you had an imagination, you could fill in the gaps that the game and the technology could not.  Its a lot like reading books.  Its up to your imagination to flesh out the characters to please you as a reader.  When games were not spelling everything out for you, you could really create a world that you not only understood, but then grew attached to.

The best part of the video is the horror show of an ending.  Its so simple but soooo bizarre at the same time.  Old games and movies really creep me out when they just hint at how odd and off putting the world “could be”.

Today I received only the head in the mail. The head also included a knife that fits in his clinched teeth. Turns out it comes with two heads. The other head is entitled “rage smoking“.

Couldn’t be more excited.

FingFangFoom guys…. This picture has FingFangFoom!

I have a problem. And it’s Drive. It’s music, it’s style, it’s typeface, it’s pacing, it’s color scheme… They are all amazing. Drive is a lot like Grindhouse, only not so “on the nose”. It gets it’s homage and parody done with out winking at the camera. This VHS cover art just makes me all flustered just looking at it. I wish I could see this on the shelf next to Goonies and Robocop.

That “all day shoot” quickly fell apart into 3 rushed hours of shooting. The final video is a lot of fun though and one of my favorite projects and Ryan raised over 5,300 bucks and the game is being printed is mass quantities.

One of Ryan’s artist was nice enough illustrate Papa Mustachio and his brother for the cards and slap a few themes on them for expansion and booster packs.  Enjoy!
